1. AI Drone Research Centre
The AI Drone Research Centre at J.J.C.E.T. is on the forefront of revolutionizing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology. The centre envisions offering state-of-the-art solutions for safe and efficient autonomous flights, positioning it as a leading provider of intelligent drone systems. Harnessing advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and simulation, the AI Autonomous Drone Research Centre places the Ground Control Station (GCS) at the core for user-friendly drone management.
Utilizing machine learning algorithms and real flight simulations, the centre optimizes drone performance, ensuring reliability in complex scenarios. The AI Drone Research Centre pursues multiple objectives, including the advancement of UAV technology and exploration of applications in agriculture, disaster relief, and surveillance. Noteworthy achievements include groundbreaking developments in AI navigation and Object Detection Algorithms.
The centre seamlesslyintegrates its research initiatives with hands-on training through drone sessions. This dynamic approach ignited students’ interest, leading them to enroll in the “Drone – Basics, Design, Assembly, and Test” course on the Naan Mudhalvan Massive Upskilling Platform, initiated by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Successful completion of this course underscores the students’ commitment to mastering drone technology. The inclusivity of these sessions extends beyond engineering students to school students, aligning with the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan scheme by the Government of India. Seminars and workshops hosted by the centre not only foster innovation but also propel UAV technology forward, solidifying its role as an innovation hub.
2. KUKA-J.J. Industrial Robotics Centre
Transitioning to the KUKA-J.J. Industrial Robotics Centre, J.J.C.E.T. continues its pursuit of technological excellence. This Centre of Excellence focuses on advancing research in industrial robotics, with the primary goal of introducing and inspiring young professionals to the latest technological strides in this cross-disciplinary field.
The centre fosters applied robotics research and ensures that education aligns with industry standards for engineering graduates and diploma students across various disciplines. Equipped with a standard training cell featuring a KUKA KR-120 industrial robot, the facility handles diverse industrial tasks critical to sectors like food and beverage, automotive, and packaging. Additionally, a state-of-the-art robotics computer simulation lab is under development, utilizing SimPro and SimLayout for planning, developing, and simulating robotic operations.
The centre provides a comprehensive array of training programs covering Basic, Advanced, and Expert levels of Robot Programming, offering hands-on training through a 54-hour prescribed course module that goes beyond the content of standard syllabus. Upon successful completion, students earn certificates of accomplishment, showcasing their acquired skills as a valuable addition to their portfolios. This supplementary training serves as a pivotal platform, propelling students into rewarding careers within the automation industry. The initiative’s inclusivity extends beyond engineering department students to include J.J. Polytechnic College and school students as a part of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan scheme by the Government of India. More than just internship preparation, this program underscores the college’s steadfast commitment to shaping students for success in the ever-evolving industrial robotics landscape.
3. CDAC J.J. IOT Centre
Expanding the horizon of technological exploration, JJCET has also established the CDAC JJ IOT Centre. This state-of-the-art facility enhances the college’s infrastructure and plays a pivotal role in disseminating knowledge in technology areas such as the Internet of Things (IoT). The centre enables undergraduate projects, elective subjects, and research activities, offering a spectrum of services and technologies.
CDAC J.J. provides a suite of products, consultancy, and training for labs, focusing on recent trends and technologies in IoT. With vast potential in IoT applications, the centre explores limitless research possibilities. These span areas like building automation, wireless sensor networks for security, and applications in military, medical, agriculture, animal husbandry, and disaster management.
4. Intel-AI Skill Centre
In a collaborative effort with Intel, JJCET has established the AI Skill Centre – Intel, solidifying its commitment to innovation and industry readiness. This centre aims to inculcate the spirit of innovation in students and prepare them for the industry by offering impactful projects and Intel Certificates of Accomplishment.
For students, the centre provides opportunities to develop socially responsible AI projects and apply for patents. Participating students also have a chance to engage in the Intel AI Global Impact Festival. On the institutional front, the program uses industrial-standard Intel AI software, making students industry-ready. Institutes have the opportunity to establish a Dell-Intel certified “AI Skills Lab” and benefit from Intel trainers’ webinars and AI-thons.
Furthermore, the Intel trainers provide training to faculty members, and upon completion, they receive Intel trainer certificates, enhancing their profiles. The trained faculty members then educate students on “AI for Youth” courses. Successful completion of projects earns students Intel and Dell’s certificates of accomplishment, while program participation results in certificates of participation.

5. Design to Product Centre
The Design to Product Centre serves as a cornerstone, establishing a robust platform for immersive student engagement. This centre of excellence is committed to imparting students with a holistic understanding of 3D Printing technology, guiding them seamlessly from design conceptualization to the final product. Notably, this process avoids generating metal scraps on a large scale, differentiating it from traditional manufacturing methods. Through a combination of heightened awareness and hands-on experience in additive manufacturing, the centre imparts valuable skills while emphasizing sustainable practices. Its overarching goal is to empower students with the expertise to navigate the dynamic 3D printing landscape, fostering innovation and contributing to a resource-efficient future.
